Newark Man Arrested for Forged Prescription

Cedar Grove police arrest man seeking controlled dangerous substance from CVS Pharmacy.

Cedar Grove police arrested a 46-year-old Newark man on Sunday, Feb. 17 at 8:44 p.m. after he tried to obtain a forged prescription from the CVS Pharmacy at 387 Pompton Ave. in the township, officials said.

Jason P. Defina was charged with trying to obtain Promethazine with Codeine, a controlled-dangerous substance, using a forged prescription not written by the doctor, police said.

Defina was processed at police headquarters and released pending a Superior Court arraignment in Newark on Feb. 27.
