Police Blotter: Money Stolen at Pilgrim Diner

May 7: Cedar Grove police are investigating the theft of $850 from an employee’s spare pair of pants at the Pilgrim Diner.

A diner employee said sometime between 10 a.m. and 6:20 p.m. someone took the money from the diner’s basement area where employees store personal belongings.

May 8: A 45-year-old West Orange woman was arrested for driving with a suspended license after a 12:34 a.m. police stop.

Benedicta C. Akpahu was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 9: A 26-year-old Oak Ridge man was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a 1:27 a.m. police stop.

Cedar Grove police say Nicholas T. Polkowski was speeding when police stopped him.

While police were getting Polkowski’s license, they smelled alcohol on his breath and administered sobriety tests, after which Polkowski was arrested.

He was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

 May 10: A 40-year-old Newark man was arrested for an outstanding traffic warrant after a police stop at 7:15 p.m.

After a computer check revealed the driver, Alhassain Neblett,  had an outstanding warrant issued by East Orange, he was arrested and processed at police headquarters. He was later released after posting bail.

May 12: A 52-year-old Woodland Park woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated following a 3:12 a.m. police stop.

Police say Sharron Hanrahan was stopped after police saw her operating her car in an erratic manner.

When police were getting Hanrahan’s license, they detected the smell of alcohol on her breath and administered sobriety tests, after which she was arrested.

Hanrahan was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.

May 13: Cedar Grove police are investigating an incident in which a lamppost was knocked down on Overlook Road at 12:47 a.m.

Police say a resident of the street reported hearing a noise from the front of his house. The resident went outside and saw the lamppost had been knocked down.

The resident said he saw a group of juveniles leaving the scene in an unknown car, but police were unable to find either the car or the juveniles. 

Damages were estimated at $500.

May 13:  An Essex Fells man was arrested for driving with a suspended license at 4:55 a.m., police said.

Ian J. Faust, 45, was processed at police headquarters and released pending a municipal court appearance.
