Verona Man Sees Florida Villa Swallowed by Sinkhole, Report Says
A local family is vacationing in Disney at the same resort where a building was swallowed by a sinkhole early Monday morning.
A Verona resident on a Disney vacation with his family watched a portion of the Florida resort he is staying at be swallowed into a sinkhole early Monday morning, 1010 WINS reported.
Luis Perez said he was staying at a different building of the Summer Bay Resort in Clermont, Fla. when power was lost and a commotion broke out just before midnight Sunday.
“You could see that one of the buildings was tilted, and there was a big crack in the foundation," Perez told the news radio station.
More than 100 guests were safely evacuated from the villa near Orlando and no injuries were reported.
