Violent Crime In Verona-Cedar Grove: See How Towns Compare To State, US Levels

Here are the towns' latest violent crime numbers, as per the FBI.

VERONA-CEDAR GROVE, NJ — The violent crime rates in Verona and Cedar Grove are each significantly below state and national levels, the latest FBI data shows.

The federal agency recently released 2024 Uniform Crime Reporting data for more than 14 million criminal offenses across the United States, including towns in New Jersey.

The agency cautions that the data isn’t an “exhaustive report” of all crime that takes place in a city or town, and police departments may have “differing levels of participation” over the years. The FBI also says that the data isn’t an effective way of comparing one municipality to another (some factors to consider include population size, economic conditions, employment rates, local judicial and prison policies, and the “effective strength” of the local police force).
