A new training class is starting in October for people who want to become certified sexual assault victim advocates.
Advocates respond to hospitals and police stations when a victim reports a sexual assault. Advocates support victims throughout the examination and reporting process, offering victims resources, comfort and an ally.Â
Sexual assault is a pervasive crime and advocates help make sure victims are supported and fully knowledgeable about their rights during what can an emotionally trying time.
