Boy Hospitalized After 2 School Buses Collide In South Jersey: Police

There were 5 students aboard at the time of the crash, officials said.

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ — A child was hospitalized after two school buses got into a crash Thursday morning in Gloucester County, officials said.

The crash happened in Franklin Township and involved two of the township school district's buses, police said. It was on Taylor Road and Reed Avenue.

There were five children on one of the buses during the crash, said Brian Betze, interim superintendent of Franklin Township Schools.

One student — a 9-year-old boy — was brought to the hospital for evaluation, officials said. The rest were unhurt.

The district is closely monitoring the situation, Betze said in an announcement to parents.

"Please know that the safety of our students is our top priority," Betze said. "We are taking all necessary steps to ensure that our transportation procedures remain as safe and secure as possible."

School officials notified parents about the crash and went to the scene to ensure that students were driven to their respective schools.
