Cleaning up the Walton Family Tree
Undaunted by an uncooperative chainsaw, a West Deptford family works to clear away a tree that collapsed on a section of their roof Thursday night.
The tree hadn't been straight since Hurricane Gloria tweaked it in 1985.
But when Bob Walton got the call from neighbor Chris Taitt that it was lying on a corner of his roof, he headed straight home from work.
The Audubon Ave. homeowner rang up his sons, Chris, Patrick and Alex, and with Taitt's help, they all got to work trimming back the branches.

If it weren't for the unreliability of their chainsaw, you'd never know the men were working. They joked and laughed and teased one another as they cleared away a considerable amount of wood.
Despite a slight puncture, the roof held up, and the Waltons' home was spared any damage on the inside. In 30 years, Bob Walton said, it was the only bit of damage they'd sustained to the homestead.
