County-Wide Drug Drop-Off at Police Stations Saturday
Authorities say the event will allow Gloucester County residents to dispose of old medication safely and without polluting waterways.

Police departments throughout Gloucester County are hosting a prescription drug drop-off from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Saturday as part of a statewide campaign called "Operation Take Back New Jersey."
In addition to those drop-off points, sheriff’s officers will oversee collection at the County Store in the Deptford Mall and on the Rowan University campus (Bole Annex,1601 Whitney Ave., Glassboro).

The initiative is meant to help curb the misuse of prescription drugs without contaminating waterways, which are not equipped to process their removal.
In fact, a 2008 study by the Associated Press noted that "a vast array of pharmaceuticals — including antibiotics, anti-convulsants, mood stabilizers and sex hormones — have been found in the drinking water supplies of at least 41 million Americans."
