NJ Mom Charged In Baby Daughter's Fatal Stabbing: Prosecutors

According to the Salem County Prosecutor's Office, police found the infant with multiple stab wounds to the chest.

SALEM COUNTY, NJ — A Penns Grove woman has been charged with fatally stabbing her baby, authorities said.

Kristhie I. Alcazar, 26, has been arrested and and faces murder charges in the death of her 5-month old daughter, according to the Salem County Prosecutor's Office.

Late Friday night, Dec.3, police said they responded to an open 911 call with audible disturbance in the background. Based upon the 911 call, investigators arrived at Alcazar’s residence on Helms Cove Lane in Penns Grove where they found Alcazar arguing with another person and the body of the deceased infant with visible stab wounds to the chest, prosecutors said.

According to the Salem County Prosecutor's Office, multiple knives and additional evidence were recovered at the scene.

"The infant’s cause of death has been determined to be homicide as a result of multiple stab wounds to the chest area," prosecutors said in a news release.

No one else was injured at the scene. The father of the infant was not at the home at the time of the incident, authorities said.
