Paulsboro Man Sentenced to 30 Years for Rape, Burglary, Theft
Prosecutors said that even from jail, David A. Richardson 'continues to traumatize' his victim, an ex-girlfriend, and her child.

A Paulsboro man who twice raped and robbed an ex-girlfriend in an encounter so violent she kicked a hole in her wall will serve at least 25 years for the crime.
David A. Richardson, 39, of Paulsboro, was sentenced May 10 to 30 years in state prison for a June 2010 attack on a former girlfriend in her Woodbury home.
"His victim and ex-girlfriend called him a monster who continues to traumatize her and her daughter, and his prosecutor said he has ignored all court orders in his past criminal cases," read a statement issued by the Gloucester County Prosecutor's Office.

In addition to facing charges for the rapes and robbery, Richardson was in violation of a restraining order when he came to the woman's home. He was sentenced to 20 years for first-degree aggravated sexual assault during a burglary and 10 more consecutively for second-degree aggravated sexual assault.
Prosecutor's Office spokesman Bernie Weisenfeld confirmed that Richardson must serve at least 85 percent of his sentence before he is parole-eligible, and is subject to the conditions of the Megan's Law, including entering into the state sex offender registry.

Richardson will also serve concurrent sentences for convictions of simple assault, burglary, false imprisonment, theft, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and criminal mischief.
The victim, who is a single mother to a teenage daughter, told Superior Court Judge Walter L. Marshall, Jr. that the two still have sleepless nights in fear of another invasion, and that Richardson “did what he could to intimidate me during the trial,” including calling her from jail.
According to the release, Assistant Gloucester County Prosecutor Staci Scheetz said Richardson described his relationship with women thusly: "Once the honeymoon is over...I’m the worst guy ever."
