Westfield Community Players (WCP) of Westfield announces auditions for its January, 2016 production of Lanford Wilson’s HOT L BALTIMORE. It is being directed by Beatriz Esteban-Messina and produced by Lucille Bills.
Auditions will be held on Tuseday Oct. 20 and Thursday Oct. 22, 2015 from 6:30-9:00 PM at Westfield Community Players, 1000 North Avenue West, Westfield, NJ 07090. The cast consists of 7 females and 5 males with 3 minor roles; age ranges from 18-70.

HOT L BALTIMORE was the first major success for Lanford Wilson. Critics and audiences loved Wilson’s play, and it set an Off-Broadway record of 1,166 performances after playing Off-Off-Broadway for a month.

In the play, the actors mill about in the lobby of a dilapidated old hotel, from which the “e” in the hotel sign is missing—hence the name, Hot L Baltimore. The play is comprised of a series of conversations between the residents of the hotel, who are contemplating an uncertain future after the hotel is condemned and scheduled for demolition.
Wilson’s play won the New York Drama Critics Circle Awardfor the Best American Play. It also won an Obie Award for best Off-Broadway play, an Outer Critics Award, and the John Gassner Playwriting award. The play was also sold to ABC and adapted as a situation comedy.
Production dates are Jan. 9, 16, 22, 23, 2016 @ 8PM; Jan. 17, 2016 @ 2PM - Matinee
