What's happening today in Westfield?

What you need to know today, Oct. 17, in Westfield.

Sports: 
Boys Soccer vs. Cranford (Home) at 4 p.m., Girls Tennis vs. Summit (Home) at 4 p.m., Field Hockey vs. Mount St. Dominic (away) at 4 p.m., Girls Soccer vs. Cranford (away) at 4 p.m.

Girls Night Out: 
It’s here! Grab the girls for an evening out on the town during Westfield's Girls Night Out. Numerous businesses will participate in the event that features shopping, dining and drinking in many of the Downtown Westfield businesses. The event is expected to draw over 1,600 women.

Le Bain GNO:
One of Westfield’s latest additions, Le Bain Boutique, will offer desserts and host a raffle during Girls Night Out. The store, which sells natural products, will also have sales and special for the evening.

Poetry U:
Monthly poetry series launches at Gallery U in Westfield. Thursday’s featured readers are poets Charles Joseph, Robert P. Langdon and John J. Trause along with short story writer Christopher Whalen. 

Movie Premiere: Local residents will premiere their film, “Sitter” at the Westfield Rialto on Thursday evening. The dark comedy has already received numerous awards. Award-winning screenwriter, Jennifer Harrison of Scotch Plains wrote the film and it stars actress Lainie Ventura of Fanwood. The two produced the movie with their company, LoveBar Productions in partnership with Jersey Flix. Grab your tickets at the door for free! First come first serve. Premiere is set to begin at 6 p.m.
