Woman Wanted For Shoplifting, Attempted Shoplifting At 3 Westfield Businesses

Arrests for driving while intoxicated and outstanding warrants were also reported recently.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A woman is wanted in connection with three shoplifting incidents in Westfield, according to the recent police blotter.

Westfield Police Blotter – June 29 to July 5:

On June 29 at 10 p.m.: John Freudenberger, 70, of Westfield, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated in the area of the 200 block of Mountain Avenue. Freudenberger was taken to Westfield Police headquarters where he was processed and released with a mandatory Westfield Municipal Court date to a sober adult.

On July 1 at 11:42 a.m.: Westfield Police responded to a shoplifting complaint at a business in the 100 block of Central Avenue. The store proprietor said that a Hispanic woman, estimated to be between 40 and 50 years of age, wearing a white T-shirt and a beige baseball cap, removed merchandise from the store without paying. The total value of the items in question was $305.96. Officers conducted a search of the immediate area; however, efforts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.

On July 1 at 11:45 a.m.: Westfield Police responded to a business in the 200 block of East Broad Street for a report of shoplifting. The proprietor stated a Hispanic woman, approximately 40 to 50 years old, wearing a white T-shirt and a beige baseball hat had just tried to remove the following items from the store without paying: one grey and black "One Grey Day" sweater valued at $178, one white "Gypsy Crochet Stripe" tank top valued at $65. Total value: $243. Attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.

On July 1 at 11:47 a.m.: Westfield Police responded to a business in the 100 block of Central Avenue for a reported shoplifting. The store proprietor reported that a Hispanic woman, approximately 40 to 50 years of age, wearing a white T-shirt and a beige baseball cap, had tried to remove merchandise from the store without payment. The total value of the items involved was $612. A search of the surrounding area was conducted; however, attempts to locate the suspect were unsuccessful.

On July 1 at 5:15 p.m.: Charishma Shaik, 28, Jersey City, was arrested following a motor vehicle stop for an outstanding warrant from the Woodbridge Municipal Court for $1,000. Shaik was turned over to the Woodbridge Police Department.

On July 2 at 10 a.m.: A Galaxy S10 Fire Echo tablet valued at around $500 was reported lost or stolen on or about July 2. The owner states he left the tablet in his motor vehicle parked in a lot on the 100 block of Central Avenue. The following day, the owner realized the tablet was missing. No forced entry was made into the motor vehicle.

On July 3 at 1:21 a.m.: Sergeant Jaramillo conducted a motor vehicle stop of a gray-colored Honda in the area of South Avenue and West Street, Garwood, after a random plate inquiry revealed that the vehicle's registration was suspended. During their investigation, it was revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Joseph Luna, 23, of Roselle, had an active, outstanding ATS warrant for $155 out of Roselle Municipal Court. Luna was processed roadside and released on his own recognizance.

On July 3 at 8:35 p.m.: Officer Perconte and Officer Manganaro conducted a motor vehicle stop of a BMW, black in color, in the area of Central Avenue and Sycamore Street after a random plate inquiry revealed that the registered owner of the vehicle had a suspended driver's license. During their investigation, it was revealed that the registered owner and driver of the vehicle, Bryan Rinconzambrano, 19, of Roselle, had an active, outstanding ATS warrant for $1,000 out of Mountainside Municipal Court. Rinconzambrano was then placed under arrest for the warrant and taken to Westfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed and released on his own recognizance.
