“Born in 2006, Mannie started boxing at the age of 5 and competitively at the age of 8 under the direction of his father Roger Chance. A first-place Jr. Olympic Champion several times over and with a record of 75-4, he is considered one of the best in the country at his weight class. He won’t be eligible to compete in the Olympics until 2028, but Mannie is already aspiring to be the first World Boxing Champion out of East Orange.”
East Orange officials noted that boxing is “all in the family” for Chance, who is following in the footsteps of his two older brothers Rajon, who now has a pro record, and Jahlyte, a former member of the East Orange Campus Jaguars, who won the North Group 5 Regional Championship in 2022. The family’s pugilistic prowess also includes Chance’s little sister, Kenya, a student at Whitney Houston Academy of Performing Arts “who is already handling her business in the ring.”
