Council President Swearing In, Fourth of July Festivities This Week

Here's what is going on this week in West Orange.

Councilwoman Susan McCartney will be sworn in Monday morning as council president.

West Orange Township Council appointed McCartney at last week's meeting to serve as president for the 2013-14 year.

McCartney has served three years as president since she was first elected to the council in 2002, she told Patch.

On Thursday, the township will hold its Fourth of July celebration at the West Orange High School with races, pony rides eating contests and more. There will also be music by The Rolling Tones.

  • Grand Finale- Baseball Turf Field at 7
  • Fireworks Display at Dusk

On Friday the Farmers Market is set for noon to 6 p.m. at Town Hall. 

Residents are encouraged to head down to check out the great fresh produce that two local farmers are selling along with the delicious snacks and foods offered by other vendors.

Also on Friday, the West Orange Library will host a film and dessert event with the movie 'Bella' from 2 to 5 p.m.
