Essex County Food Pantry Hosting 35th Anniversary Dinner Reception

This year marks the 35th anniversary of Meeting Emergency Needs with Dignity.

An Essex County coalition of food pantries is celebrating its 35th anniversary in 2015 with a dinner reception.

Meeting Emergency Needs with Dignity (MEND), the largest and oldest interfaith coalition of food pantries in Essex County, was established in 1980, according to a released from MEND. Since then, more than 1.5 million Essex County residents have been able to obtain perishable and non-perishable food items for themself and their families, MEND said. In 2014, the organization served 95,000 people.

The dinner reception will be held at 6 p.m. at The newark Club, 1085 Raymond Blvd, in Newark, New Jersey, on Thursday, March 12.
