Ex-West Orange BOE Member Passes Away

WEST ORANGE, NJ — Former West Orange Board of Education member Warren Fuller has passed away, according to district administrators.

The current Board of Education members announced Fuller’s passing in a joint statement on Thursday.

The BOE wrote of Fuller:

“It is with great sadness that the members of the West Orange Board of Education acknowledge the passing of former West Orange Board of Education member Warren Fuller on July 31, 2017. Mr. Fuller served the community from 1996-2004 with great distinction. He was a Certified Board Leader receiving the highest accommodation from New Jersey School Boards Association and provided instruction to board members across the state. He proudly served as President of the board during his term and shared his love and passion for public education long after his tenure on the board.”

His longtime friend, board member Laura Lab, issued the following statement:

“Warren's ability to grasp often complex and complicated issues and assist not only those with whom had the privilege of serving with him but for many board members subsequently; was profoundly appreciated by members of the entire school community. Many years after his children graduated and he no longer was a member of the Board, Warren tried not to miss a football game, marching band half time show, concert or high school play. He was a true advocate for West Orange, our children and our school district. My colleagues and Superintendent Rutzky, join me in sending heartfelt condolences to his family and friends.”

According to the BOE, a memorial gathering will be held on Friday, Aug. 4 from 3 to 5 p.m. and from 7 to 9 p.m. at Danglers Funeral Home, 340 Main Street, West Orange. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 5 from noon to 1 p.m. at Danglers Funeral Home.
