Ex-West Orange Police Director, Business Admin Dies: John Sayers
An Essex County native with strong ties to West Orange passed away: John "Jack" Sayers.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — An Essex County native with strong ties to West Orange passed away earlier this week: John “Jack” Sayers.
According to his obituary, Sayers died peacefully on Nov. 8, surrounded by his family.
Sayers attended West Orange High School, graduated from Kean University, earned a degree from Seton Hall Law School and went on to serve various communities in Essex County for nearly 50 years. He worked as a police officer in the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, later serving as the police director and business administrator in West Orange, where he also performed a variety of charity work.

Visitation will be held in Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Church in Roseland on Thursday, Nov. 14 from 4 to 8 p.m. Read the full obituary from Codey Funeral Home here.
