A West Orange family was displaced Tuesday evening after a basement fire spread to the first floor in a residence near Hazel Elementary School, West Orange officials said.  The two-alarm fire broke out around 6:15 p.m. at 129 Mitchell Street and was extinguished within 30 minutes, according to township spokeswoman, Jessica Glicker. Four West Orange fire engines and one ladder truck responded to the fire as well as the West Orange First Aid Squad. Montclair and Orange fire departments provided mutual aid. No injuries were reported.
