FBI Searches for Alleged West Orange, Caldwell Bank Robber

Authorities say the man who robbed a Caldwell bank Thursday unsuccessfully attempted to rob a West Orange bank an hour earlier.

Local police and the FBI are searching for a man who allegedly robbed a bank in Caldwell just one hour after he attempted to rob a West Orange bank late Thursday afternoon, officials announced Friday.

According to officials in the Newark FBI office, the man entered the Wells Fargo Bank at 412 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange at about 5 p.m. on April 18 and demanded money before fleeing without any cash. 

About an hour later, police believe the same man robbed a PNC Bank at 423 Bloomfield Ave. in Caldwell. Police have not released the amount of money taken.

Officials said, the man was wearing the same shoes and hat for both robberies.

The man is described as a clean-shaven black man, in his late 20s, about 5-foot-6 inches to 5-foot-8 inches tall and about 140 lbs. with a thin build.
