Four West Orange Public Retirees Receive More than $100,000 Pension

Report: More than 1,400 public retirees in the state receive pensions that are more than $100,000.

Various public retirees in the area are part of the so-called "$100K" club, receiving more than $100,000 in pension from the state of New Jersey — four of which are from West Orange. 

The top paid pensionsers across the state are retired executives. Topping the list is Charles Epps, former Jersey City superintendent and A.Z. Yamba, former president of Essex County College, tied at $195,000, according to New Jersey Watchdog.

This year, the list of retirees receiving $100,00 or more in state pesions increased to 1,474 — 230 more than in 2012 when the number was 1,244, the report said.

Below is a list of those who retired in West Orange and their pensions:

  • Jerry P. Tarnoff from West Orange Board of Education at $143,730
  • Frank A. Corrado from West Orange Board of Education at $115,897
  • Joseph Bruno from West Orange Board of Education at $106,974
  • John T. Ryan from West Orange Township at $105,025
