Free Dog, Cat Rabies Vaccines In West Orange: Town To Hold 2 Clinics
The West Orange Health Department will host a pair of free rabies vaccination clinics for local dog and cat owners in January.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Health Department will host a pair of free rabies vaccination clinics for local dog and cat owners in January.
The first clinic will take place from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Jan. 4 at the Public Works Department, 25 Lakeside Avenue.
The second clinic will take place from 3 to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8 at Fire Station #4 (280 Pleasant Valley Way).

Here’s what to know if you plan to go, according to a municipal advisory:
“Dogs and cats must have their rabies vaccination updated if it expires prior to November 1, 2025. Check the application renewal form to see the rabies expiration date on file. First time vaccinations will provide immunity for one year beginning 30 days after the vaccination. All other animals will receive immunity for three years. Puppies/kittens must be 4-months-old. A licensed veterinarian will administer the vaccine. All dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers.”
Animal licenses will be sold at both clinics. Applicants should bring a renewal application. Call 973-325-4121 for more information.
