Girl Scouts Heart of New Jersey (GSHNJ) is thrilled to announce the return of its “I Run for Girls 5K Run/Walk”, taking place on Sunday, Sept. 21 at a new location: the Orange Reservoir, 9 Cherry Lane in West Orange. Known for its wide, paved paths and scenic water views, the reservoir offers a picturesque and accessible backdrop for this growing community event.

By participating in the “I Run for Girls 5K Run/Walk,” community members help ensure that more young people can benefit from all that Girl Scouting offers. Proceeds from the event support programs that spark curiosity, nurture self-confidence, and equip members with the skills to navigate life with purpose and joy. Through unique programs, experiences and a supportive community, Girl Scouts explore their interests and grow into global citizens who are life ready—both today and tomorrow.

Following the success of last year’s race at Tamaques Park in Westfield, which drew more than 360 registered participants, GSHNJ is excited to bring the event to a larger venue that reflects the spirit and momentum behind Girl Scouting.

“Last year’s 5K was a powerful example of what happens when community and mission come together,” said Natasha Hemmings, CEO of GSHNJ. This year, we’re excited to bring even more runners and walkers to a beautiful new location. Whether you’re racing or strolling, you’ll be part of something bigger, helping create opportunities for young people to discover new interests, build skills, and make lasting connections. We can’t wait to see everyone at the starting line!”
