Here Are New Jersey’s 5 ‘Most Popular’ Cocktails (With Ingredients)
New Jersey's second most popular cocktail is the margarita, a recent study claims. Here's the drink that landed in the top spot.
NEW JERSEY — If you’re going to have guests over for a drink in New Jersey, it might pay off to know how to whip up an Aperol Spritz. After all, it’s the “most popular” cocktail in the state, according to a new study.
Researchers with QR Code Generator recently used Google Keyword Planner to identify what cocktails people are searching for online in each state. The study involved a list of 50 drinks (see the list below).
Which libations came out on top? Here’s what researchers had to say:

APEROL SPRITZ – According to the findings, the Aperol Spritz is the top cocktail in New Jersey, with 11,183 average monthly searches. The drink combines three ounces of prosecco, two ounces of Aperol and one ounce of club soda, and has a sweet and citrusy flavor – followed by a slightly bitter aftertaste.
MARGARITA – New Jersey's second most popular cocktail was the margarita, with an average of 9,800 monthly searches. It is typically made with two ounces of tequila, half an ounce of orange liqueur and one ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice. The rim of the glass is often coated in salt, and some recipes suggest adding agave or syrup to help sweeten the drink.

ESPRESSO MARTINI – The espresso martini was the state’s third most popular cocktail, with 8,108 average monthly searches. The classic coffee cocktail consists of two ounces of vodka, half ounce of coffee liqueur and one ounce of freshly brewed espresso. Some people like to add 1/4 ounce of simple syrup if they prefer it sweeter, and it is optionally garnished with coffee beans.
NEGRONI – The negroni was the fourth most loved cocktail at 7,250 average monthly searches. Made up of equal parts gin, vermouth and Campari, the drink is typically served on the rocks and garnished with a twisted orange peel.
MOSCOW MULE – Rounding out the top five in New Jersey is the Moscow mule, with 6,650 average monthly searches. The cocktail consists of two ounces of vodka and half an ounce of freshly squeezed lime juice, topped up with three ounces of ginger beer.
“It’s interesting to see the Aperol Spritz take the spot as the cocktail of choice in New Jersey, with the drink's popularity soaring in recent years,” said Marc Porcar, CEO of QR Code Generator.
“This is perhaps because it is a low-alcohol aperitif, which makes it more suitable for daytime drinks in the summer,” Porcar theorized.
