Man Shot In Neck In West Orange, Hospitalized With Severe Blood Loss: Police

The man refused to give any information about how the injury happened or who was responsible, police said.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A victim was shot and lost a significant amount of blood in West Orange on Sunday morning, authorities said.

Police got a call at 2:37 a.m. from a resident who said he was shot in the neck. The caller urgently requested medical assistance, but refused to give any information about how the injury happened or who was responsible.

Officers arrived at the scene of the shooting on the 1400-block of Pleasant Valley Way to find a man with a gunshot wound who was suffering significant blood loss.

Emergency responders transported the man to Cooperman Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston. No information was immediately available about his condition.

West Orange police detectives responded to the scene. An investigation is ongoing, authorities said Monday.

There is no ongoing threat to public safety, a township spokesperson said.
