Mental Health Clinic Opens New Location In West Orange

CEO: More than 1.1 million New Jersey adults have a mental health condition, yet over 300,000 did not receive the health care they need.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A full-service mental health clinic recently celebrated a ribbon cutting event after moving from Livingston to West Orange.

The Family Healing Center held a ribbon cutting at its new facility at 98 Valley Way earlier this month.

The new center is located in the building that formerly housed the Our of Lady of Lourdes Convent. The building has seen renovations over the past several months, with many of the historic details preserved, according to a news release.

The Family Healing Center works with adults, youth, individuals, groups and families to provide counseling services including drug and alcohol treatment, anxiety disorders, relationship issues, parenting challenges, personal challenges and career-related difficulties. The center has served over 2,000 clients to date via its more than 20 licensed family therapists.

“The Family Healing Center represents more than therapy rooms and offices, it’s a beacon of hope – a safe space for children, families, and for individuals in crisis,” CEO Malik Carey said.

It’s a service that is much-needed in the Garden State, he added.

“A recent study showed that over 1.1 million New Jersey adults have a mental health condition – three times the population of nearby Newark – yet over 300,000 of them did not receive needed mental health care,” Carey said.
