ORANGE, NJ — The City of Orange in New Jersey is suing the landlord of an apartment building on Vose Avenue due to allegedly “unsafe and deplorable living conditions” caused by neglect, officials recently announced.
Earlier this week, Mayor Dwayne Warren and the Orange City Council released a statement about a lawsuit involving 765 Vose Avenue, which is part of a two-building condo community known as the “Kingston Apartments.”

“Based on the owners’ negligent management and maintenance of this property, the city will file charges against your landlord in Superior Court before a presiding judge. The city will also file to enforce tenant’s rights and seek sanctions against your landlord.”
Officials said that tenants at the building should contact the city’s law department at 973-280-1621 for more information about the ongoing legal action.
According to the lawsuit, 765 Vose Avenue is a four-story building with 46 units. Last year, a resident at the building told News 12 New Jersey that the roof in her shower collapsed on her young daughter. Another tenant said a ceiling caved in and left a huge hole, which wasn’t repaired for a year.
