No Yoke: Buy Coffee With An Egg At West Orange Café
You bring the egg, they'll trade for a cup of coffee. That's the deal a New Jersey restaurant is offering as "eggflation" keeps soaring.
WEST ORANGE, NJ — It isn’t a “yoke” – a West Orange café is offering its customers a chance to trade an egg for a cup of coffee.
Harper's Café at 134 South Valley Road recently posted a message on social media about the unique, one-day promotion, which will take place on Tuesday, March 11.
“You can buy a coffee with an egg,” the post said, adding that their beverages are “EGGstraordinary.”

“Hey, with everything going on, we gotta get creative here at Harper's,” the local business posted, alluding to the ongoing inflation of egg prices, which is taking place across the nation.
A recent inflation report from the U.S. Labor Department showed that the price of a dozen Grade A eggs rose to $4.15 in December, up from about $3.30 in October. In some parts of the country, a dozen eggs can cost a buck each — if consumers can find them.

December egg prices were 37 percent higher than they were during the same period in 2023. At the same time, the overall annual grocery inflation rate for December was 1.8 percent.
