Prescription Drug Submission This Weekend

Residents can turn in expired or unwanted prescription drugs at town hall between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

West Orange will take part in the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 27, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at town hall.

The goal of the program is to allow the citizens of New Jersey to deliver all of their unused, unwanted or expired medications to law enforcement officials who can in turn dispose of these controlled substances in a safe and non-hazardous manner, preventing these pills from falling into the hands of juveniles or into the illicit market in our communities.

In the five previous drug buyback events, the DEA has worked in conjunction with state, local, and tribal law enforcement partners to remove more than 2 million pounds (1,018 tons) of prescription medications from circulation.
