Social Studies Presentation at School Board Meeting This Week Ahead

Here's what is going on in West Orange this week.

On Monday, West Orange's Board of Education meeting is scheduled for 8 p.m at West Orange High School, 51 Conforti Ave. Agenda is attached for review. 

On the agenda, there will be a presentation on Social Studies. 

Originally, the agenda proposed a switch between Hazel Elementary's principal and Edison Central's. The proposed transfer was to move Acevedo toEdison Central 6 as principal and have Xavier Fitzgerald take over at Hazel because of the elementary school's recent success.

Also on Monday, the Human Relations Commission will meet at 7 p.m. in town hall, 66 Main Street.

On Tuesday, the West Orange Township Council will convene at 7 p.m. in West Orange Town Hall, 66 Main Street. Agenda attached.

On the agenda there are proposals to borrow nearly $4.2 million – including $475,000 to create a park on Ridgeway Avenue and to pay out $2 million in successful property tax appeals, according to Councilman Joe Krakoviak.

On Thursday, the Special West Orange Zoning Board of Adjustment meeting will take place at 8 p.m., also at West Orange Town Hall, 66 Main Street. Agenda attached. 

Also on Thursday, the library's board of trustees will meet at 7 p.m. at the West Orange Public Library.

Mayor Robert Parisi will be hosting office hours Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at township hall.
