WEST ORANGE, NJ — A highly anticipated Target store in West Orange is still on target for a fall 2025 opening, developers say.
Things have been booming at West Orange Plaza over the past year, according to a recent update from Levin Management Corporation.
The shopping center – which is located at 235 Prospect Avenue and is anchored by a Whole Foods supermarket – launched a multi-million-dollar, property-wide renovation in 2024 after announcing a new lease with Target department store. The new store will be located at the spot where a Kmart once stood.

In February, pet wellness concept Dogtopia opened a 5,000-square-foot location at West Orange Plaza, providing daycare and boarding with a range of spa services.
Additionally, global fitness chain Club Pilates will join the tenant lineup as part of the redevelopment of West Orange Plaza.
Six more leases – totaling nearly 25,000 square feet – are in negotiation, Levin Management reported.
“We are seeing, firsthand, the momentum that redevelopment can bring at West Orange Plaza,” said Ed Vasconcellos III, the firm’s leasing representative.
“The addition of two strong, nationally recognized brands like Dogtopia and Club Pilates underscores the success of our efforts to secure this shopping center’s position as a preferred retail destination,” Vasconcellos said.
