Virtual Workshop To Spotlight Homebuyer Program In East Orange

A city program in East Orange is giving first-time homebuyers a boost. Learn more at an upcoming public workshop.

EAST ORANGE, NJ — Have you dreamed about owning your own house, but need assistance with a down payment? A program for first-time homebuyers in East Orange might be able to help, city officials say.

The city currently runs a program that assists low-income or very low-income households with bridging the financial gap of their primary loan. Eligible applicants can get deferred payment loans that they can put to use in several ways, including down payments, closing costs, essential home repairs or interest/mortgage buy down. East Orange will be hosting a virtual “First Time Homebuyer Workshop” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 21 for people interested in the program. Other workshops are scheduled for May 22, Aug. 21 and Oct. 23.
