West Orange Firefighters to be Promoted, Sworn In

A number of West Orange fire fighters will be promoted and sworn-in in a ceremony this evening.

A number of West Orange firefighters will be promoted, sworn-in and honored in a pair of ceremonies this week.

Tonight, Tuesday, April 28, firefighter Stephen Ameli and Fire Captain Albert Souza II will be promoted. Ameli will be promoted to the rank of Fire Captain and Souza II will be promoted to the rank of Deputy Fire Chief. Additionally, probationary firefighters William Wagner and Leon Sederwall will be sworn-in prior to attending the Fire Academy.

On the following night, Wednesday, April 29, the West Orange Chamber of Commerce will be recognizing members of the West Orange Fire Department and Police Department during its annual Chamber Awards Dinner.

Fire Captain Thomas Belli, Firefighter Steven Cusano, Firefighter Jonathan Gonzalez and Captain Brian Aker will be receiving an award for their heroic efforts with an incident earlier in the year, the Chamber of Commerce said.

West Orange Police Officer Andrew Berkery, Detective Dennis McCole, retired officer Raymond Rosania will also be recognized at the awards dinner.
