West Orange To Hold Free Rabies Clinic For Dogs, Cats
West Orange pet owners can get free rabies vaccinations for their furry friends at an upcoming township clinic.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — West Orange pet owners can get free rabies vaccinations for their furry friends at an upcoming township clinic in 2019.
In January, the West Orange Health Department will host two free vaccine clinics for dogs and cats. For more information, contact 325-4121.
The clinics will take place on the below dates/places:

- Saturday, Jan. 5 – (10 a.m. to noon), Public Works Department, 25 Lakeside Avenue
- Wednesday, Jan. 9 – (3 to 4 p.m.), Fire Station #4, 280 Pleasant Valley Way
According to a municipal notice:
“Dogs and cats must have their rabies vaccination updated if it expires prior to November 1, 2019. Check the application renewal form to see the rabies expiration date on file. First time vaccinations will provide immunity for one year beginning 30 days after the vaccination. All other animals will receive immunity for three years. Puppies/kittens must be 4 months old. A licensed veterinarian will administer the vaccine.”
All dogs must be leashed and cats must be in carriers, officials said.

Animal licenses will be sold at both clinics. Pet owners should bring the renewal applications with them, officials said. (Learn more here)
