West Orange Man Killed in Fatal Central New York Car Crash

A township man was killed during a crash with a woman who was allegedly driving while intoxicated.

Authorities in central New York state have identified a West Orange man who was killed during a car crash with a woman who was allegedly driving while intoxicated in the wrong direction, according to published reports.

The man, identified as Bruce Ham, 58, of West Orange, was killed early Friday morning when a vehicle driven by Amy Dell, heading in the wrong direction, struck his car head on in the southbound lane of Interstate 81 in LaFayette, New York, according to a report from WSYR-TV.

Police claim Dell, of Rome, New York, was driving northbound in the southbound lane when her Ford Escape struck Ham’s Lexus, according to a report from CNYCentral.com.

Dell suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, according to published reports. Ham was pronounced dead at the scene.

Dell was charged with driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation and vehicular manslaughter, according to CNYCentral.com.

The website reports, bail for Dell was set at $500,000 cash or $1 million bond.
