West Orange Middle School Wrestlers Place in County, State Championships
Three middle school students placed in Essex County and New Jersey tournaments.
Three West Orange middle school students capped off a successful wrestling season by placing in both county and state wrestling championship tournaments.
Seventh grade student, Michael Charles, and eighth grade students, Brian DiPalma and Colin Morgan, each took first place honors at the Feb. 22 Suburban Wrestling league Essex County Championships for eighth grade and below, according to officials from West Orange Public Schools. Charles and DiPalma finished the tournament undefeated, while Morgan finished with only one loss.
On March 14, the three students competed in the New Jersey State School Boy Championships at the Sun Center in Trenton. Morgan and DiPalma finished in the top 12 in their weight classes in the state of New Jersey. Additionally, eighth grade student Edgar Morena also finished in the top 12, school district officials said.
