West Orange Restaurant Makes List Of ‘Top 100 Places To Eat In US’

WEST ORANGE, NJ — A West Orange restaurant recently made the cut for a Yelp list of the “Top 100 Best Places To Eat In The U.S.” for 2023.

Nicholas Anthony’s Family Kitchen at 450 Main Street in West Orange was one of three New Jersey restaurants landed on the 88th spot on the list. Other restaurants that made the grade were Jessica’s Café in Plainfield (40th) and Kenko Sushi in Lincoln Park (78th). See the full list here.

Here’s how this year’s ranking was determined, according to the website:

“To create Yelp’s Top 100 US Restaurants list, we first reached out to Yelpers for their favorite dining spots. Then, we ranked each by total number of submissions, ratings, reviews, and geographic representation, among other factors.”

Here’s what the list said about Nicholas Anthony’s Family Kitchen:

“Named after chef-co-owner Nick Giambattista’s son and father, Nicholas Anthony’s is the quintessential family kitchen where even Yelpers are treated like part of the brood. The low-key Italian joint prides itself on “family vibes, great service, and home-cooked food,” according to Nick, who founded the restaurant 4 years ago with his sister and their spouses. “We make food personal because we want everybody to feel at home,” Nick says. Yelpers can vouch—“The owners and staff…bring you right in. I made myself a cousin,” remarked Yelp Elite Nicole G. The menu is intentionally small to ensure ingredient freshness—but portions are huge. Try the rave-worthy Chicken Angelina, a breaded chicken cutlet topped with fried eggplant, marsala wine sauce, mozzarella, and mushrooms, plus a side of pasta. Finish your meal with a made-to-order Festival Zeppole (fried dough with powdered sugar) and a frothy cappuccino. And don’t forget to pack your favorite bottle of vino—the restaurant is BYOB.”
