West Orange Town Council, School Board 2025 Election Results (UPDATED)

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The dust has settled from this week's local elections in West Orange, and several candidates have moved to the front of the pack, unofficial results show.
A highly watched governor race brought many West Orange residents to the polls on Tuesday. But there were plenty of other choices for local voters to make in the 2025 general election.

West Orange residents voted in a special election to fill an unexpired term for Asmeret Ghebremicael, who resigned earlier this year. The candidates were: Tammy Williams, Kenneth Gibbons, David Allan-Matheson, Jerry Companion, Jennifer Stacey Iorio, Bill Rutherford, and Justin Goldsman.
With 100 percent of districts reported, Tammy Williams leads the race by several hundred votes and has claimed victory, apparently earning re-election to the council. Results still need to be certified before they are official.
Here are the unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Tammy Williams – 4,401 votes (25.31%)
- Kenneth Gibbons – 1,884 votes (10.83%)
- David Allan-Matheson – 814 votes (4.68%)
- Jerry Companion – 979 votes (5.63%)
- Jennifer Stacey Iorio – 2,224 votes (12.79%)
- Bill Rutherford – 3,512 votes (20.2%)
- Justin Goldsman – 3,575 votes (20.56%)
BOARD OF EDUCATION
Four candidates competed for two open seats on the West Orange Board of Education. Terms last for three years. The candidates are: Robert Ivker, Dia N. Bryant, Susan Palmucci, and Noha Sadany.
With 100 percent of districts reported, Bryant and Ivker have apparently captured seats on the board. Both candidates have claimed victory on social media posts. Results still need to be certified before they are official.
Here are the unofficial results from the Essex County Clerk’s Office:
- Robert Ivker – 6,851 votes (27.49%)
- Dia N. Bryant – 7,706 votes (30.92%)
- Susan Palmucci – 5,303 votes (21.27%)
- Noha Sadany – 5,066 votes (20.32%)
