West Orange Woman Pleads Guilty in 2013 Stabbing Death of Grandmother

A West Orange woman pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter.

A West Orange woman pleaded guilty to aggravated manslaughter in connection with the stabbing death of a West Orange grandmother.

Carline Inginac, 22, pleaded guilty to her involvement in the 2013 stabbing death of 57-year-old Sandy Yuen during a robbery in her West Orange home, according to a report from NJ.com.

Rakeem Scott, 20, of Newark, struggled with Yuen during the robbery and stabbed her in the neck with a knife Inginac handed to him, killing Yuen, the report said. Inginac admitted to handing Scott the knife, NJ.com said.

Under the plea deal, prosecutors agreed to recommend that Inginac receive a 22-year prison sentence, the report said. She would need to serve 85 percent of the sentence, or 19 years in prison, before becoming eligible for parole.

Scott and Inginac broke into Yuen’s home on Chestnut Street on Sept. 3, 2013. West Orange Police found Yuen after responding to a medical aid call just before 1 p.m. the following day, authorities said.

According to the report, during the robbery and subsequent attack, Yuen’s 20-month old granddaughter was asleep in another room.

The case against Scott is still pending. Inginac’s sentencing is scheduled for May 15.
