This Week The Focus Returns to the Lubavitch Center of Essex County.

Community Shabbat Dinner on Aug. 12
Israeli advocate and activist Sael Abecassis, a lifelong resident of Sderot Israel, will share his personal story of what it was like growing up in this western Negev community.
As a representative of the Sderot Media Center, Abecassis has provided lectures and tours for government officials, diplomats, foreign journalists and students from around the world.
Abecassis’s love for Israel is actively demonstrated in all of his pursuits - serving as a sergeant major in the Israel Defense Forces, working as an emissary in the Central New Jersey Federation for a year, and developing lectures to educate Americans about Israel and Sderot. Abecassis is currently pursuing a degree in Jewish History and Archeology while he is enrolled in Israel’s Tour Guide Department.
The talk will take place at a community Shabbat dinner on Friday Aug. 12, at the Lubavitch Center Shul, 395 Pleasant Valley Way in West Orange.
A candlelighting ceremony is scheduled for 7 p.m. followed by evening services led by special guest cantor, Steve Schwartz. The dinner menu will be Middle Eastern style and will begin at 8 p.m. A children’s supervisor will be available.
Advance reservations are required. The cost is $30 per adult and $12 per child. The price for members is $25 per adult and $10 per child. Sponsorship is $180. The evening is sponsored in part by Steve & Mali Schwartz.
