Youth Sports Program In West Orange Is Making A Difference For Local Athletes

The West Orange Police Athletic League (PAL) recently got a round of applause for boosting the local sports community.

WEST ORANGE, NJ — The West Orange Police Athletic League (PAL) recently got a round of applause for boosting the local sports community.

The West Orange Town Council recognized the achievements of the PAL at a meeting last month, spotlighting the undefeated season of the Girls Flag Football 12U Team, the Championship victory of the 14U Flag Football Team, the inaugural season of Boys 14U 7-on-7 Football, and the success of the Champion 8U Baseball Travel Team.

PAL is more than just an athletic program, its supporters said: it serves as a foundation for sports participation that often continues into high school and fosters friendships that can last a lifetime.

The council thanked the PAL board, coaches, and countless volunteers for their ongoing efforts.

“For more than six decades, the West Orange PAL has played a vital role in enriching the lives of young people in the community, fostering positive connections between youth, families, and mentors. Mayor McCartney and members of the Council praised the organization for its unwavering commitment to providing sports programs, mentorship, and community-building activities. They highlighted how teamwork, discipline, and respect are instilled in participants both on and off the field because of the dedication of PAL coaches, volunteers, and supporters. Founded in 1962 with Pop Warner football team, boys baseball was added in 1965. West Orange PAL has grown over 63 years to include a wide range of athletic programs for boys and girls of all ages. Today, PAL continues to stand as a cornerstone of youth development in West Orange, carrying forward a tradition of excellence, mentorship, and community pride.”
