3-Story, 38-Unit Apt. Building Proposed For Woodbridge's Main Street
Vito Mazza Jr. seeks to build a three-story apartment building at the site of his family's longtime salon at 114 Main Street.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — At their meeting next Wednesday, the Woodbridge Planning Board will hear a proposal for a scaled-down new apartment building pitched for 114 Main Street.
Mazza Urban Renewal seeks to build a three-story, 38-unit apartment building at 114 Main Street, according to the latest Planning Board documents. It will come with 32 parking spaces in the back and 3,143 square feet of street-level retail.
This is where Vito Mazza Salon & Spa and Ristorante Venezia are currently located.

According to TapInto Woodbridge, the longtime salon and Italian restaurant would be torn down to make way for the new apartment building, but they would reopen again in the dedicated ground-floor retail space.
Right behind the proposed new apartment building would be the massive new proposed municipal parking lot in between Ross Street and North James Street.

Mazza Urban Renewal is owned by Vito Mazza Jr., whose father started the salon.
According to MyCentralJersey, this is a scaled-down version of what Mazza originally wanted to build there: Previously, Mazza wanted the town's permission to build a five-story apartment building, of 77 apartment units.
Mayor John McCormac has long said he is eager to see 114 Main Street converted as part of his plans to turn Main Street into a "Transit Village."
In 2018, the Woodbridge Planning Board and Town Council designated 114 Main Street as a “non-condemnation area in need of redevelopment."
"The Vito Mazza property represents an extraordinary opportunity to develop a modern transit-oriented development," wrote Woodbridge Township in this Downtown Woodbridge Redevelopment Plan, published in 2020. "The redevelopment area is located in downtown Woodbridge proper on Main Street. This plan will foster the transformation of the property into a productive high density, mixed-use development. Due to its advantageous location within downtown Woodbridge and near the train station, this redevelopment area should be a highly desirable location for people to live and work."
The Woodbridge Planning Board will hear the proposal at their next meeting, scheduled for 6 p.m. next Wednesday, July 26 in the Council chambers of Woodbridge town hall.
