Construction Underway At 6-Story MetroPark Luxury Apartment Building

It's called Woodmont Rail, located at 186 Wood Avenue South. It's not to be confused with The Hyve at MetroPark, also being built nearby.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Construction started in June on a new six-story apartment building near the MetroPark train station in Woodbridge.

It's called the Woodmont Rail and it's located at 186 Wood Avenue South. Once finished, this will be a luxury rental apartment building of 300 apartments, with studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments for rent, ranging from 574 to 1,400 square feet.

Anticipated rents range from $2,300 for a studio to $4,300 for a three-bedroom. The building expects to be completed in 2028, and will start renting soon after.

The building will have an indoor fitness center, co-working center with conference rooms, a clubroom, multi-sport simulator, a resort-style outdoor pool in its center courtyard, a rooftop bar and lounge, a dog run and a parking garage with EV charging stations. It is owned by Woodmont Properties.

It's within walking distance to the MetroPark train station. Ernst & Young, Prudential Insurance, UnitedHealthcare, BASF Corporation and Wells Fargo are all located in that same MetroPark office park, and are all currently in business.

This is not to be confused with something called The Hyve at MetroPark, which will include office space, street-level retail and restaurants, and an apartment building of 230 residential units, at least 20 percent of which will be low-income housing.

The Hyve will be built nearby, also near the MetroPark train stop. Hackensack Meridian Health plans to move its statewide headquarters there, and is currently building a six-story headquarters at MetroPark, which will have a ground-floor wellness center with doctors' offices. “Breaking ground on Woodmont Rail at Metropark marks an exciting milestone for Woodmont and a meaningful investment in the future of Woodbridge,” said Stephen Santola, Woodmont’s executive vice president and general counsel. “This community, located a short walk from the MetroPark train station, will infuse new energy into one of the region’s key transit hubs while generating hundreds of construction jobs and long-term employment opportunities."

He said he was "deeply grateful" to Woodbridge Township for "re-thinking the areas in and around MetroPark."
