3 Astoria, LIC Buildings Up For Grabs In Affordable Housing Lotteries

Three new buildings around Western Queens have apartments available in the city's housing lottery β€” though some are pricier than others.

ASTORIA, QUEENS β€” Dozens of apartments in Western Queens buildings are up for grabs through the city's affordable housing lottery β€” though some of the units may be out of reach for many renters.

Each of the buildings was listed in recent weeks on Housing Connect, the platform where the city gives residents the chance to apply for below-market-rate apartments. Eligible incomes and application deadlines vary for each listing.

TRIO at 27-19 Thomson Ave., Long Island City:

  • Eligible incomes: $88,835 - $187,330
  • Household size: 1-5
  • Deadline to apply: Aug. 4
  • Details: This under-construction, 10-story building will offer two months of free rent for all new tenants, according to the listing. Its 11 affordable units β€” including one studio, seven one-bedrooms and three two-bedrooms β€” will feature floor-to-ceiling windows, oak floors, spacious living rooms, quartz kitchen countertops, Bosch appliances and heated bathroom floors. The building itself has a rooftop terrace, fitness center, an Amazon hub and a bike room.

  • Details: Still under construction in Hunter's Point, this 11-story building has 14 affordable units β€” including three studios, four one-bedrooms and seven two-bedrooms.
