Dog, 3 People Rescued From East River, FDNY Says
A dog and three people were spotted floating in the water Wednesday morning off Socrates Sculpture Park, authorities said.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A dog and three people were pulled out of the East River Wednesday morning, FDNY officials said.
Three people and a very wet pooch were spotted floating in the water near Socrates Sculpture Park in Astoria about at 8:15 a.m., authorities said.
Marine and land rescue units rushed to rescue the foursome and brought them to shore near Vernon Boulevard and 31st Drive, authorities said.

Video captured at the scene and published to Citizen shows both the FDNY and NYPD arrived at the rescue.
Many details are still unclear, but FDNY officials said all three people were pulled from the water and refused medical attention.

The canine's condition remains unclear, but the FDNY's response suggests the pup survived his riverside adventure.
Socrates Park is steps away from Hallet's Cove Beach, which is open to the public from April through December (but not for swimming, according to the Parks Department website.
This is not the first East River doggie paddle to merit an emergency response this year. In April, NYPD Special Ops saved a pup named Bebe who took a 200-yard swim in the frigid waters, NBC New York reported.
