$75K Income Required For 'Affordable' Long Island City Apartments

An "affordable" apartment in this Hunters Point building will still cost you at least $2,200 a month, city records show.

LONG ISLAND CITY, QUEENS -- Yet another batch of "affordable" apartments is hitting the Queens market, but only for applicants who rake in at least $75,000 per year.

Three brand new apartments at 10-44 Jackson Ave. in Long Island City will be up for grabs on the NYC Housing Lottery starting Friday, but only for those who earn 130 percent of the area median income and have upwards of $2,200 a month to spend on rent, city records show.

The apartments are the second this week in the area to debut on the affordable housing lottery at prices that only a small percent of residents can afford.
