$77K Income Required For 'Affordable' Sunnyside Apartments
The units in Sunnyside Point, which start at $2,251 a month, hit the NYC Housing Lottery Wednesday, city records show.

SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS -- A new apartment complex going up in Sunnyside has put a few "affordable" units up for grabs, but only to applicants earning more than $77,000 a year.
Three apartments in Sunnyside Point, a four-story development going up at 47-16 Greenpoint Ave., hit the NYC Housing Lottery on Wednesday. They start at $2,251 per month, and only those earning 130 percent of the area median income can apply, city records show.
A single one-bedroom apartment is available at the starting price to one- to three-person households earning between $77,178 and $122,070 annually, according to the NYC Housing Connect listing.

Two 2-bedroom apartments that cost $2,714 per month are also up for grabs on the lottery to households of two to five people that net a combined income between $93,052 and $146,510 annually.

Preference for the housing lottery will be given to applicants with mobility, visibility or hearing disabilities.

The three "affordable" apartments are among 10 being built inside Sunnyside Point, which has been in the works since 2015, city records show.
The four-story building will feature commercial space on its first two floors along with a 6,248-square-foot community space, according to DOB filings. Other building amenities include an elevator, roof deck common areas and on-site laundry.
Apartments will be up for grabs on the housing lottery through Sept. 20.
