Astoria Deli Workers Slashed During Nighttime ATM Robbery: NYPD

Two deli workers in Astoria were slashed in the face Tuesday night trying to stop a pair of robbers from stealing their ATM machine.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — Two deli workers in Astoria were slashed in the face Tuesday night trying to stop a pair of robbers from stealing their ATM machine, according to the police.

Two men walked into 2401 Gourmet Deli Grocery at 24th Avenue and 31st Street about 11:30 p.m. and stole the deli's cash machine, a police spokesperson said.

When the two employees tried to stop them, one of the men pulled out a knife and slashed the workers in the neck and face, the spokesperson said.

The robbers loaded the ATM machine into a car and drove away, according to police. Police haven't made any arrests in connection with the robbery, the spokesperson said Wednesday morning.

The victims, a 66-year-old man and a 30-year-old man, were brought to Elmhurst Hospital for treatment.
