Astoria Is The Hottest Neighborhood For Apartment Hunters: Report
Astoria was the most-searched neighborhood for prospective renters, according to a report by the real estate website RentHop.
ASTORIA, QUEENS — With prospective renters already having a dagger between their teeth in a competitive housing market, Astoria might be the neighborhood where the battlefield is in full swing.
Astoria is currently the hottest neighborhood in New York City for prospective renters, jumping from the ninth most-searched area last year to first place, according to a report published this month by the real estate website RentHop.
"As rent prices across the city have skyrocketed, many New Yorkers have looked to Queens for more affordable prices and bang for their buck," reads the report.

The Upper East Side reached second place in the ranking, following the East Village in third place.
Researchers analyzed every renter neighborhood search on RentHop.com between February 1, 2023 and April 30, 2023 and the same period in 2022 to create the report.

Long Island City also saw a jump in popularity. The neighborhood climbed six spots in RentHop's rankings, reaching 18th place in the most popular areas in the city.
Several Manhattan neighborhoods have waned in popularity, according to the report. Greenwich Village dropped eight spots, while the West Village and Chelsea fell seven and six spots, respectively. Still, the neighborhoods remained in the top 25 most-searched neighborhoods in New York City.
