Broadway In Astoria Getting Another New Apartment Building, Plans Show
Another low-rise Broadway block will soon be home to a multi-story apartment building, according to newly submitted plans.

ASTORIA, QUEENS — A low-rise block of Broadway in Astoria will soon be replaced by an eight-story apartment building, according to plans filed with the city.
Containing 17 apartments, the building is planned for 14-47 Broadway: a site just west of 21st Street that is now home to a two-story building that most recently contained a tax prep office and a beauty salon.
The listed owner is Prashant Patel of the real estate firm NestingGroup LLC, who purchased the existing building for $1.4 million in February 2021, city records show. Patel filed plans last month to demolish the current building, and filed for the new building in mid-May.

Besides housing, the new building will also contain 338 square feet of commercial space, according to the filing, and will stand 84 feet tall. New York YIMBY first reported on the project, which will be designed by the Brooklyn-based firm S. Weider Architect.
Broadway is home to a number of other residential projects in various stages of planning: a row of long-vacant storefronts on a centrally-located block on the corner of 29th Street is in the midst of demolition, with plans to replace it with a six-story apartment complex.
